Long Bio
My journey into this work was born both from passion and from pain. On February 7, 2021, my world shattered when my beloved son, Sammy, died at sixteen from fentanyl poisoning, delivered to him by a dealer he met on Snapchat. Walking through the fire of that unimaginable grief has changed me forever. I know what it is to have your heart broken open, to feel like you cannot go on, and to slowly find your way toward light again. Out of that heartbreak has come a deeper calling: to help others not only move through loss, but grow through it with grace and courage.
Before this chapter of my life, I had already devoted more than three decades to helping people live fuller, more authentic lives. I earned two Master’s degrees and a PhD from New York University and became known as one of the most recognized sex and relationship therapists in the world. For years, I guided people as the resident expert on The Oprah Winfrey Show, hosted a five-day-a-week live call-in show on Oprah Radio, and launched two television programs on OWN (In the Bedroom with Dr. Laura Berman and The Dr. Laura Berman Show). I also hosted Showtime’s Sexual Healing and Discovery Health’s Berman and Berman, wrote nine books including a New York Times bestseller, and appeared on countless news and daytime programs, as well as in nearly every major women’s magazine.

Now, my work brings all of this together. My decades of expertise as a therapist, author, and media personality meet the lived truth of a grieving mother who has been through the fire. I am here to offer guidance, compassion, and practical tools for anyone who is navigating grief, trauma, or relationship struggles. If you are seeking healing, love, and a renewed sense of connection, you are in the right place.
